Public Opinion ----- Creators Group Question
What is the most efficient method to evaluate public opinion? And how to test the credibility of the results?
Public Relations. March 6-24, 2006. With a class of 133, we'll break into 27 groups. Here's where six of my former American students will post their answers to questions from groups of my Chinese students. The goal here is to gain cross-cultural insights, discover differences/similarities about Public Relations in America and China, and other insights...what will we learn from each other?

One of the most efficient methods used to evaluate public opinion in the U.S. are polls. The most well-known and influential organization is the gallup organization, which can be found on the web at http://www.gallup.com/
Another influential consumer public opinion source is the Pew Research Center. Web site: http://people-press.org/
Polls are a way of determining trends and market opportunities, for example increasing internet usage among certain age groups.
Public opinion can also be evaluated through various other forms of feedback. Each year the Rose Festival pays close attention to the phone calls and e-mails we receive commenting on the strengths and weaknesses of events. We also note other responses, such as the published letters to the editor of newspapers, which are also a gauge of public opinion.
While not as easily quantifiable as polls, these methods still allow for an organization to understand how its publics view it and give guidelines on how best to alter the message and content it is presenting .
